Hey all,

I hope that everyone had a wonderful Easter weekend. I know I did (but that's a story for another email...). In this post-Easter season I want to encourage us to try and not forget what we have just celebrated. Jesus is no longer in the grave, he is risen!

Here's a great song about this theme: Over Death - lyrics

Jesus' resurrection means that the world is beginning to be made well again. The death and decay introduced by Adam and Eve's sin is in the process of being done away with and one day Jesus will return to finish the job he began. In the meantime it's our duty to carry on with his work: telling others about the life that is found in Jesus, healing the sick and wounded (physically, emotionally, mentally), and crying out for justice when other are being oppressed, marginalized, or killed.

Check out a great video describing this idea: Rob Bell - Resurrection
Here's another provocative Easter video: Easter is Coming

Youth Group Update

I hope that you are all stoked to get back together this week at the Y! We're going to be continuing our look at prayer for the next couple of weeks. Get ready to be blessed and have your perspectives changed on prayer!

Announcements

  • For SH
    • John Grosser will be leading us this week. I'm in Atlanta all weekend for a wedding and won't be back in town until just before group. So I will probably be there, but Mr. G will be heading things up. From what he's telling me I don't think you'll want to miss this.
    • Does God Exist? class will meet TONIGHT at the Calawa's from 7-9(ish)
  • For JH
    • Would you all let me know if Wednesdays might work for you? The Y is starting to get rather busy on Monday nights and I'm thinking that moving the night might be better in the long run for us.

Events

I need a few volunteers to help out at the Sonshine Soup Kitchen next week. More details to follow. If you are up for it please email me.

Have a great week!
