Faithworks is a ministry where teams of men from our church perform home repair and handyman work for single moms, senior citizens, and women whose spouses are overseas serving in the military. The men do basic chores around the home such as fix leaky faucets, clean windows, paint rooms, etc. Afterwards, the men gather with their care receiver for prayer before departing. The teams donate time the 3rd Saturday morning of every month.
Our teams return to the same care receivers until the care receiver no longer has projects to be completed. Faithworks is now in its sixth year of existence. We currently have 21 men spread across 5 teams helping care receivers. We estimate that our ministry donates over 600 man hours of labor annually! The administrative work performed by Faithworks leaders (coordinating teams, interviewing new care receivers, meeting with organizations that serve the needy, etc.) amounts to over 200 hours of additional labor each year.
Our ministry strives for long-term engagement with a care receiver so that a relationship is built. The same team will return to a care receiver each month until the team is no longer needed. In some cases, a team might work with a single care receiver for years.
This long-term engagement model helps our church connect with care receivers in a manner that concretely manifests Jesus' love for humankind. We've had several instances where neighbors of care receivers have seen the ministry being performed and requested help for themselves. Visit our Help Request form to request help from Faithworks.
