Mission Trip - The Girls

Looks like the girls on the Mission Trip are enjoying themselves! Katie, Sydney, and Alissa are wearing the mission trip theme t-shirt. It says "Reveal" in the orange dot.

Day 2 update from Sabrina

Today was really fun! My crew is great, even though I am not with anyone from Londonderry. We all clicked so fast. We're already teasing each other because we are so close. We took down a whole porch today and made post holes. The resident is really nice. There's an older woman, a 35 year old woman and a 7 year old girl named Totiana. She's so cute! We played hide and seek with her and she showed us her room and all her Hannah Montana school stuff and High School Musical posters. They were all so nice and welcoming. Totiana is really smart, too. She helped us clean up our tools.

Day 2 update from Katie

Work day one: complete. Only wrecked the one frame for the stairs. Not too hot today though. I led devotions and they went well. All the other students in my group are 14 (Katie is 17). Everyone seems happy with their crews now.

Day 2 update from Morgan

From Jerry:

Just got word from Morgan... she absolutely loves her crew and the lady they are helping... they are painting the home of a lady who has lived there for 60 years! Morgan's team is painting Minnie Lincoln's house green. She is 75 years old and has lived in the neighborhood for 60 years. They're also building her a deck. The team is going to try to send a photo tomorrow (of Ms. Minnie and the kids).

"Meet Your Crews"

Well, apparently the requests we made to partner students together didn't make it from GroupWorkcamps headquarters in Colorado to New Jersey. I've heard that some students are disappointed, and I can understand that. But God is still in control! Elaine prayed this morning that God would teach each one what He wants him or her to learn. Her prayer made me think and pray it over and over today. Could He be using the crew assignments to work his plan?

Arrived Safe and Sound!

Heard from Katie that the group arrived with 5 minutes to spare! They made the first session and are now in the middle of dinner and free time. Pray for a good night sleep, especially for the drivers! It's been a long, but good, day. ~ Mrs. C

Jerry's musings, part 1

Has anyone seen Elaine?

Several anxious families gathered this morning well before 6 in the Robie House parking lot... fortunately our nerves were lulled by the hypnotic sound of 4 Michelin tires gripping the damp road as they zoomed by us in the growing light of a New England dawn... if the SUV hadn't belonged to one of the trip drivers we might have relaxed ourselves right back to sleep.

When you get to the Atlantic Ocean turn around... for some people 6 a.m. just comes too early.

Jerry's musings, part 2

Late afternoon of day one... I have the TV remote all to myself so why oh why am I watching the same stupid shows that I crab about when Morgan turns them on?

p.s. those of you who guessed the reason is because I don't know how to use the remote are wrong... well, not completely wrong.
